Do I need a pistol license before taking NRA Basic CCW? ›

In most cases, the NRA Basic CCW course itself is a training/certificate program, not a license. Whether you need to already hold a pistol license depends on (1) range policy for live-fire and (2) what you plan to use the certificate for. If you’re taking it strictly for skills, you may still be able to attend depending on venue policy. If you plan to use it for a permit in another jurisdiction, confirm that jurisdiction’s rules before registering.

Why are NYS 16+2 and NRA Basic CCW listed separately now? ›

NYS requires a specific training structure and qualification standard. NRA Basic CCW has a different course structure and qualification requirements. Separating the courses keeps documentation clear and helps avoid confusion between qualification standards.

Can I sign the waiver with DocuSign? ›

Yes — you can use DocuSign for signatures. Google Forms does not directly embed DocuSign in a way that automatically stores the signed document inside the form response.

Best practice: collect registration in the form, then send the DocuSign request immediately after submission (or provide a link that opens the DocuSign signing flow in a new tab).
